STEP UP AND SPEAK OUT SUICIDE PREVENTION SUMMIT AT PEACHTREE ROAD UMC FEBRUARY 1: KEYNOTE KAY WARREN, FEBRUARY 2: 3 CONCURRENT TRAININGS FOR COMMUNITY, CLERGY AND CLINICIANS.

TRAGICALLY, SUICIDE IS AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH. IT IS NOW CONSIDERED BY HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND CLINICIANS AND EPIDEMIC. MOST IF NOT, ALL OF US HAVE BEEN TOUCHED BY SUICIDE AND SOME WAY. SO, THE ONE LAMB INITIATIVE AT PEACHTREE ROAD WITH THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF MEMBERS DECIDED TO ADDRESS THIS DIFFICULT TOPIC HEAD ON. K Warren, who lost a son to suicide will be our Keynote. She has written a book called "CHOOSE JOY" which talks about her journey and how she goes on in the wake of her son's death. The following day, we will have trainings which have been endorsed by healthcare professionals, notably CHILDREN'S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA: Our mental health professional training has been endorsed by Dr. John Constantino of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta:

“At Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, we’ve seen the profound impact of skill development in dialectical behavioral therapeutic approaches, including the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) model, for both clinicians and patients. This evidence-based approach can equip professionals with tools and confidence to engage compassionately and effectively with those at risk for suicide. I enthusiastically encourage Atlanta-area clinicians to consider opportunities to train in these methods, including the upcoming February 2, 2026 clinician training at the Step Out & Speak Up Summit.”

 John N. Constantino, MD

Liz and Frank Blake Chair for Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health,

Chief, Center for Behavioral and Mental Health, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Pediatrics, and Genetics, Emory University

We can make a difference by stepping up and speaking out for suicide prevention. Hope exists, especially when concerned people are trained in how to halt the epidemic of suicide.
