Beverly Armento will present her memoir, Seeing Eye Girl: A Memoir of Madness, Resilience, and Hope. She looks honestly at her difficult life growing up with a blind mother who was mentally disturbed and who also abused her. As a child, Beverly had to find her own way and survive. Her teachers at school gave her confidence. In turn, Beverly devoted her life’s work to the study of education and mental health. She earned a Ph.D. and is now Professor Emerita from Georgia State University. The emphasis of this discussion will be mental health among our youth. You will not want to miss this program.
